Hey if you do it yourself it will cost about £300 if not less

If you have 6210 kit, all you need is to the swap the controller £230) (can be tricky, but it is ok on the CLK), not sure what you have though.

N

ps you don't need the adapter as Richard said, just the controller and possibly software upgrade. If you can send sms then you don't need it as I think that is the latest.

As barflux says, its trivial to do

You wont need the cradle adapter because its already there for the 6210. You might need a new cradle, but probably not - some of the older cradles the phone drops out), and you need a new control unit.
The phone is available free on a contract ..

The controller is, either under the rear seat (CL/S), in the boot (middle under carpet, under cover)(new C), or behind one of the side panel trims in the boot (old C/E/CLK/old SL), or under the right-hand seat (ML). Its harder to get to on the new SL.

(UK boot == US trunk)

Cheers

Sounds like they are updating the s/w on the COMAND unit, which gives you a few newer features on older cars.

But, you can get them to do that for free if you say "sometimes the CD player starts from track 1, sometime from where you left off - and apparently there is a software update for COMAND"

Dont let them charge you the 30minutes labour for sticking the update CD in ...

R

(ps, which dealer?)

The brain is under the rear seat - maff changed his in about 10 minutes. The software update is a CD you stick in the COMAND and leave it well alone for 20 minutes ..

Well, I can give you the part number for the update CD (which costs about £10), and the new brain (which is about £200 I think) - and if you have a posidrive screwdriver then you can do this easily.

The rear seat bench lifts up, there are catches in the front corners of the bench (you cant see them, they are behind the leather) that you press whilst pulling up the seat - once youve done one, its easy to see how the work, but first time is more difficult ..

If they are changing the cradle aswell, that is more difficult to do - but I suspect they arent ..

Cheers,

the cradle is being replaced too! as the new 6310i isn't as good fit as the 6210....

i'd rather have it done correctly so that if anything does go wrong then it is all covered!
