Poor Radio Reception - 03 m-class

I previously had a 00 m-class BOSE radio. Radio reception was acceptable---range on AM band of at least 100 miles.

On my 03 m-class BOSE radio...reception is poor..sounds as if there is something missing or defective with the antenna or amp...anyone have any clues as to what to look for to correct this problem ?

See my post below "Thoughts please", some possible explanations there. My radio is ok on FM but on AM it sounds like my speakers are slightly blown, while the announcer speaks I get a slight buzzing and the louder I turn it up the worse it gets, on FM I can crank it and no problem. My 01 CLK 430 had poor FM reception and great AM sound. Are you experiencing anything like the AM problem I'm having?

Hi all,

I seems in the US you guys use AM a lot?

In the UK AM is mono and went out with the ark, I dont know anyone who still uses it.

Is there a reason for this that I'm missing?

Graham.

Hi Graham,

Basically, most traffic reports and news are broadacast on the AM band here in the states. That's the reason I find it essential.

Regards from across the pond,

London Lad must not be to keen on sport including football...

In the UK Talk Sport Radio and BBC Radio 5 Live (Sport/News Chat) are only on the AM band.

Live match/game reports go out on these AM stations in the UK so perhaps the US guys like their football and their AM.. sounds like my type of people...

I don't have a ML. But does it have a seperate antenna or is it imbedded into the rear window?

I'm asking cause if you have tinted your rear window, that is the cause of the bad AM reception.

Tint & AM

Wreck

Good shout, but I didn't get the tint added at the same time the TV and GSM were fitted.

My first 1999 ML had the aerial in the glass, but my 2002 ML has an MB multi-function roof antenna which came with a factory fitted European Comand..

Thanks anyway..

Steve
