Trying to get Steve to do Command installs in the New England area this April/May. His cost is $1300 plus expenses. I am trying to get the plus expenses part of the install to a reasonable amount.

Thanks.
This is from an email I recieved from Steve.
I will most probably be coming to the states for some comand installs during
the last 2 weeks of April and first of May and I usually go there where
people want me to go as long as they pay for my additional airfares and
possible hotel stays. I am not sure whether I will make it to the north east
in april though...I will most probably get there in June/July though.
Installing a US spec W203 comand is something I do for 1300USD (excluding
the activation of the nav screen in your dashcluster and nav CD) and an
auxiliary input can be added for an additional 50USD.
I require a 200USD deposit per Paypal for every comand I have to install in
order not to get stuck with shipped and cancelled comands.
I have been in the states in December and in February to do some comand
installs (50 in total by now)...you can find info/feedback on mbworld.org
when you perform a search on comand and the username MBenzNL.
The 203 comands I have are all US spec, used and come directly from Mercedes
Stuttgart with a warranty from the department of mercedes who sold me those
comands.
If I am coming down to the states for comand installs in April
and if you want to have a comand installed by then, please let me know ASAP
so I can start planning the trip and contact other interested people in your
area...
I install comands in the W163, W202, W203, W208, W209 and W210...in case you
know more people in your area who might be interested.
greetingz,
Steve Krabbenborg (MBenzNL) the NetherLands
Does anyone know what exactly the auxiliary input can be used for?
Can I plug in my Laptop to it? A TV tuner?
Anyone who already has a Comand unit thinking of getting "an auxiliary input can be added for an additional 50USD." from Steve?

AUX in is a female mini-stereo jack. It is can be used for audio input from cd players, md3 players, cassette players, satellite radio receivers, etc.
That doesn't have to be the case... It could also be in the form of 2 female RCA jacks as well (red and white RCA input). That's what I have at the moment. You can easily convert the input to any type you want. Just get a converter cable from Radio Shack (they have 1/8" mini-stereo jack to 2 female RCA jacks). Basically, it's an audio in for the Comand.

I think it takes less than two hours, to be sure email Steve and ask him. You can also check out the thread https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...threadid=30931

I thought he will be in the west coast around June/July... Anybody on the West coast willing to install the COMAND from Steve? I live in Seattle, but I probably be able to drive the car to SF.

I believe this to be true, double check with Steve to be sure.
BTW, this AUX input is a 1/8" stereo mini-jack, the only kind of input that is OEM from Mercedes.
