Comand Errors Newbie on a otherwise amazing car
I've just brought my first Mercedes Cl55K and am very happy that ive joined the 500bhp club, but my euphoria has been short lived as I've got problems on my Comand Unit.
It wouldnt read any Nav disks so Ive managed to source a A220 827 14 42 headunit from ebay, however I thought it would be plug and play but I've got the following errors:
N1112 No data transfer between D2B master and D2B predecessor component possible
N1141 Set/Actual configuration of D2B ring differs
B1795 Fault in CAN Communication – EIS Control
B1762 Fault in CAN Communication – Instrument Cluster
B1738 GPS report not received
B1767 Navigation Parameter missing
Any hints on getting the unit working? do i need to get it coded to the car even though the car had sat nav. finally does this unit 2003 widescreen w215 model take DVDs as navigation or Cd's?
Thanks in advance hope to contribute something back some time...
You can then refer to the COMAND manual for the type and model year at http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsite/comand_manual.htm
If your COMAND unit is a COMAND MOPF made for an '03 S-Class or CL, it is CD based, not DVD. http://www.mercupgrades.com/COMAND++...rticle-54.html
BTW, the entire site at http://www.mercupgrades.com/ is well worth a read, especially since you're installing your own. It takes some digging - use the search tool. best to enter model and year and find all articles. Richard Almeida has done us a wonderful service with this site.
Thanks for the heads up... the bottom line is both units only take CD based Navigation Disks. Ive been bloody using DVD's for COMAND-APS rather than CD based disks for COMAND 2.0 or as in my case COMAND 2.0 MOPF which is the widesceen version of COMAND 2.5.
Im trying to source some UK based DISK's to see if I can get the NAV operational. All other aspects of the Unit work, Radio, Music CD's etc. It even comunicates with the Dash so It should work.
I'll give you a heads up once I've tried some more disks...
Im trying to source local maps for the UK, but my local dealer has no idea about the firmware update for the DX Comand which i think is known as MY2003...can anybody point me in the right direction...my local dealer doesnt even know if this exists...

Thanks
