iPhone/iPod and Rev App
Has anyone used the iPhone/iPod Rev application by Devtoaster in their Benz? I have an 06 E55 and just want to see if their would be any functionality with the application (being able to read fault codes, temperatures, etc.) before I purchased a compatible WiFi OBDII connector...

Well, I decided to go ahead and purchase a WiFi OBDII device and the Rev application for the iPhone just to see how much data the combination will show. At the very least I just purchased a pretty expensive OBDII tool. The good thing is, I have 5 other vehicles to try this on...

Well, I got the device (Kiwi) and did the initial pairing. I had an old version of Rev that wouldn't connect will with the Kiwi (OBDII). I downloaded the newest version of the program and it paired quickly. It read that I had 0 engine codes and 0 pending codes. I am still trying to figure out the gauges and how to make them display what I want. I did everything with the car in park, so I am not sure what data it is reading. It did manage to read the voltage correctly 13.5 to 13.6 V and updated regularly. It was able to read my boost (-1415 or something like that) as well as EVAP but not sure if these are reading correctly. My iPhone's battery was almost dead so I didn't get to play with it too long. Will try tomorrow and see what I come up with...

I must say that I am very impressed with Rev and it's compatibility with my E55! I was able to view my boost pressure, air intake temperature (IAT), current speed (which correlated exactly with the speedometer), RPMs, EVAP pressure, engine coolant temperature (ECT), current fuel usage and averages, and much more as I was driving. It is a little tricky to figure out at first, and I wish I could view more than 5 gauges at once, but it is a very informative tool! I would also suggest having another person in your vehicle to help with the setup if you are going to use it while driving. You are also able to record and save the information you are viewing.
I also downloaded FUZZYCar and LogWorks from the App Store (both are currently free right now) but haven't used them yet.
All-in-all, I am happy with the purchase! Now we just need someone familiar with the inner-workings of the OBDII/ECU systems in MB and maybe we could do a little tuning ourselves...

It is the PLX Kiwi WiFi device. http://www.plxkiwi.com/kiwiwifi/hardware.html
You can order directly from their site. I did not get the one with the the iMFD capability (you can add that later if you wish). I ordered mine from eBay from a seller by the name of chree! (http://myworld.ebay.com/ebaymotors/chree!). I ordered it Friday morning and it was waiting on my doorstep on Monday (I am in NC and the seller is in GA). I paid 149.99 with shipping. That is the best price I found...

Looks like a good product.
Not to thread jack, but...
The logworks is for the Innovative line of products. They also make a wifi connector for your Iphone that has data logging capabilities built in, plus is compatible with Innovative's Modular Tuning Line so you can add a wide band or just about any sensor they make. The software is free and the connection device is about $170.
I think the products are very similar, so I thought I would mention the Innovative one.
These devices have lots of potential.

You are correct, Logworks is only compatible with OT-2 modules.

Nothing to compare today probably but almost 4 years ago a buddy of mine and I developed an OBD II handheld interface. Didn't have enough money to go large quantity and only sold about 100 pieces worldwide. Back then our interface could read out all the real time data, DTCs, erase them, show and store freeze frames and had what nobody really had: DTCs in plain text scrolling through the display rather than just the DTC as code like Pxxxx.
Oh well... lets look forward
Nice buy btw.!!!
