2007 Stock W221 - Ipod Questions
Hello all,
As the title says, I have a 2007 model S550 that came with the glove box iPod integration and I have a couple of questions.
With all other types of media (cd/dvd/sat radio/radio) I see the titles, etc on the command display. When using the iPod, the command display is empty. There is nothing about the song or and controld via the command controls. The only way I can interact with it is by using the iPod itself or using the display in the center of the speedometer and the controls on the steering wheel.
My question, is this the correct function for the iPod or do I need to visit the dealer?

I cannot say for certain in the '07, because it uses a different COMAND unit than prior models. However, in the '04-'06 cars that had an AUX input (the '04-'06 W220 did not) and could use the MB iPod kit, song title, album info, and artist info were only shown on the instrument cluster. They were not shown on COMAND. The tie-in for this information was the CAN bus, which displays on the instrument cluster but not on COMAND.
Sorry I could not be more definitive for your particular car. The Telematics tech at your dealership's service department (or the delivery specialist from the sales department) could probably answer the question without any diagnostics. Give them a call.
