Comand APS DVD takes me on the wrong route

I have a 2006 W164 ML63 that has Comand APS DVD fitted.

Strange thing happens when I use the Nav.

I can put an address in and it calculates everything, then sometimes for example it will make me exit a freeway and then travel along a parallel road and then rejoin the freeway.

Always seems to take me on the route which is by no means the quickest / best.

Anyone have this problem?

1) Is your nav DVD recent? If there was an uncompleted stretch of a major highway when the disc was made, it will do what you described.

2) Have you set the route parameters in your nav system? Your COMAND manual should tell how how to do this (fastest/shortest route, minimize toll, minimize ferry, minimize tunnel, etc. are some of the choices). I believe that with your system, the selections may be made after you enter a destination, during route calculation. If you do not have a COMAND manual, see http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsite/comand_manual.htm and the note about ML systems being the same as '01-'03 CLK and E-Class. I referenced Page 161 of the '02 CLK manual for the information. If yours is an Asian specification COMAND, I have no experience with them and cannot help.
