Wanting to install Amp and Sub with stock head unit

Wanting to install Amp and Sub with stock head unit

looking for some info or past experience on putting an after market amp and sub box in. can the stock command unit still be used? have to bypass the stock amp? multi channel amp needed because of bypass? im not finding anything relevent so far any help or advice would be awesom.

Heres what I did,I tapped into the sub in the trunk and ran those into my amp to power my w6s

Depending on your amp you might need to get a hi to low preamp line converter to lower the signal to preamp levels.

Some amps like the 500/1 jl have a switch for hi voltage input.

then get a cap and use it,you will get warnings on the dash and the car will start shutting off options while you drive.Some have fixed that issue with taking a power from the chassis and not directly from the bat.

Dont run more than 2 subs as I think 300 watts is where the car starts going retarded with voltage drop problems.

So my 2 12" polk audio subs with 1800 watts is out of the question?

If it is 1800 watts peak then its likely 900 watts rms requiring 30Amp or more current in addition to current draw by your regular (or updated) amplifier plus vehicle electronics, lights etc. etc.; you may be asking for trouble.

I expect the experts, especially jbondox will have something to say here
