If your unit didn't look like that, post a pic and perhaps we can find some more info.
IMO you're better off just buying an Ebay unit and scavenging it for parts. By the time you get done with labor charges, parts and shipping (if necessary), it'll cost more than having that spare unit! If it's in much better condition (the Ebay one) just put it in instead!
