Question XM Radio and KEG integration into SL500 MY2003 without using FM Transmitter

Hello -- I am looking to install (have installed) a XM Radio and a Kenwood KEG into my SL500 (2003). I would like to do this without having to resort to the FM transmitter -- but instead connect via a wire(s) to the built in COMAND unit. I was thinking maybe the AUX jack in the glovebox could be used or something else that is hidden behind the dash.

Also looking for suggustions as to where the following items could be mounted:

Display unit(s) -- XM and KEG
XM receiver
KEG Unit
XM Antenna (could any of the built in antennas in the car be used ?)

As an FYI the other items I am considering or looking into what options are out there are the following:

a) Escort Passport SRX or SR7 Radar / Laser Detector-Deflector installed.
b) Cellular Phone -- Some Nokia phone (I don't like the V.60 phones -- have had one in the past (non mercedes) and didn't like it.

Thank you ahead of time for any suggustions.

BTW -- If anyone knows of a decent place that does this sort installation work in the Philadelphia, PA / Princeton, NJ areas feel free drop me a line.

Thanks again.

Too bad the 2004 SL-Class will have sat radio support built-in.

I added XM to my G500 (same COMAND unit has the SL) using FM modulation because I was too lazy to get the AUX wired up (mine doesn't have it pre-wired in the glove box). It sounds alright using an Alpine FM modulator that is direct wired to the antenna input on the COMAND.

The problem with the AUX input is that you have to press multiple buttons to select it and none of the bass/treble adjustments are remembered when you turn the car off.

I have yet to see a single XM radio display that looks good or is easy to use. I hope MB does a good job with their implementation.

The SL-class COMAND is actually quite different! Physically and with the installed software.

What's funny about the bass/treble adjustments... I switched to a Euro COMAND for W463, and it actually remembers the Aux input sound settings. Go figure.

What are the differences between the SL and G-Class COMAND? I know the S and CL-Class have the new 16x9 screens, but when I played with an SL55 it appeared to physically and software wise look the same.
