Replacing the bose system

I have spent 8 hours today searching the net and forums but 1 simple answer eludes me.

Can I just unplug the command 2.5 system in my dash and fit an aftermarket unit still leaving the factory bose amplifier and cd changer intact in the boot?
Will the car have a electronic fit as I have unplugged the OB2 fibre cables from the head unit only?

I will then add aftermarket amps and speakers to replace the bose items which don't work.

Car is a 2002 CL600 W215. The command is a 2.5 with Navigation by CD.

Please someone let me have a simple answer

The simple answer is no.

For a more detailed answer reflecting the kind of thing you will face (even though it is for the W220), see http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...nd-system.html

It is possible to add a device such as the mObridge DA1000 or DA2000 to emulate a fiber optic amplifier; it allows the bose amp to be replaced by a non-fiber optic amp, but makes the amp "look like" a fiber optics system to the COMAND head unit. See http://www.mbca.org/forum/it-possibl...ptic-systems-0

See http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...ble-din-3.html - especially post 28 - and also post 7 at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...amp-stock.html for more.

The DA1000 or DA2000 has now been changed to the DA1 and DA2. We are the now the North American distributor for mObridge and can answer any specific questions about the DA1 or DA2

OK according to the research I have done the DA1 or 2 is for MOST based systems, not the D2B protocol. Will this unit still work?

Can I not just loop the fibre optics for the HU, so the light path is still unbroken?
Then just tap the various wires for ground, 12v ignition etc. Then install amps in rear with the only new wiring being the HU to new amps which would be fibre optic alpine, so effectively the sytem is still in the car but just unplugged at the HU end.

With a stand alone stereo on a completely separate circuit.

Is the system that complex that this solution will not work?

Correct the DA1 and DA2 are for MOST systems. There is not a version in the market for D2B, and you can do what you suggest.

Thank you for that, I am getting somewhere finally.

2 questions:

1/ where can I buy the loop closer?
2/ Does Cartronics have the CL600 W215 mounting unit that replaces the 2.5 commant, I only saw pics of the 2003 onwards model.

cheers

Your dealer, or we have them by phone order.

The CL has never been made due to the bizarre mounting configuration of the radio. It is actually integrated into the large wood piece. I have the same in my car and have taken the route of adding a TON of goodies to the factory head unit. I am VERY happy with it now... even MotionX navigation!!

You are ? Perhaps you may be one of a few, if anything, but to say that you are THE NA dist. is quite misleading don't ya think ? Last time I checked Advanced is still handling it along with RF and no mention of you.

I ordered an Anystream from Cartronics on 3/2/2012. They charged my card for it that day, but have yet to receive it. Website is down, voicemail is full, waiting to see if any response to email....

The owner of the company apparently passed away and they are currently out of business.
