Cartronics Closed

I see the announcement that Cartronics has closed due to the death of the company founder. My sympathy goes to the family, freinds and employees.

Maybe after things are sorted out with the estate, Cartronics can open again. Anybody have any inside info?

It seemed that Cartronics had some very unique products. I was gettting ready to order phone/ipod integration but it looks like I'm out of luck. Anyone know of any other companies making similar products?

No inside info here; apparently the announcement was made on the Cartronics Facebook page. You might try Mid-City Engineering - they have always been superb, and extraordinarily helpful on the forums. http://midcityengineering.com/

wow that sucks!! Just got my MB and was looking into the cartronics products! What a loss not only for the family but for the MB community as well.

Wow was it the same guy that comes here? I came here to actually look for their info since their site was down. From all the fancy cars on his profile I would think the company made money. Can't imagine no one would continue their work?

I heard a few details but not going to pass them on as it wont matter anyways.

Anyways cartronics had a lot of stuff that was just rebadged, and they said it was theirs... I am not going to get into that either, but i will try to help finding the right manuals for the equipment you have...

wow this is interesting and a bit of BS considering i dropped a large amount of money on some products from them on Mar 4 and havent heard anything since...no response to emails etc, and now I'm gonna have to go through my bank to cancel all the charges

Yes, go through your bank.

As far as it being "BS," I'm sure the owner of the sole proprietorship didn't plan his demise just to make things difficult for you; and his death would tend to interfere with the normal conduct of business. Note the date of Neander's post, and compare it to the date of your order. It explains a lot.

perhaps...probably more frustration and annoyance since the day i bought it i never heard a word from them, just an automatic email saying "Their products are the best in the market and its worth the wait blah blah blah"...only to find that its apparently not worth the wait! obvioiusly its very sad he passed and all, but he wasn't alone in the company...he obviously had people savy enough to shut down the website, then they shoulda had people savy enough to cancel orders and refund money...thats all i was saying!

I can't speak with any authority regarding the company; I am aware that the owner, using the screen name "Cartronics" would appear on the forum; and one of his installation techs (perhaps the only one - I do not know) would appear under the screen name of "InCarTronics" - which was the company's former name. It was a small operation, and it may well be that its business affairs are tied up with the estate.

Whatever the actual case is, you are still best advised to go through your bank or credit card company and inform them of nonreceipt of merchandise.

First, I offer my condolences to the owner's family.

I found their products expensive compared to what was available and so I know nothing about the quality of their products or service. I won't speak ill of the dead. I only wish his family peace.

It's a sucky situation, but alot of us small specialty shops do not have the money or manpower to not handle most of the work ourselves. I would imagine that he was not planning on ending his career/life. I know my business would/could not run properly without me. I sell/install most of the same products from the actual manufacturers. If I can help with any questions/tech support I would be happy to offer any help I can.
