Hey, my radio went to "code" after the battery went dead this winter, does anyone know if there is a procedure to retrieve the id # so i can get the radio code (other than removing the radio)? thanks

Try asking your dealer; with your VIN and proof of ownership, most dealers will give you the code free (if they can get it). If you're already shown in the dealer's records as the owner (most of us are), all they need is the VIN.

thanks, i don't know why i did'nt think of calling my dealer first. i know on most newer vehicles the dealer requires the serial number off the back of the radio.

If the radio is original to the car, all the dealer usually needs is the VIN. If it has been replaced, the serial number of the radio is needed.

got the radio code from the dealer, it took about 7 seconds. thanks for the good suggestion.
