I had the same problem in my 04 E55. I bought new amp and it still did the same thing. I ended up replacing the entire head unit with an Android Chinese unit and using an aftermarket amp to power everything. I still have the car. She has 190k miles. Her and the head unit are running strong. No issues. I got mine from Alibaba, eBay has some good ones too

My issue (same) was that my amp and CD changer had gotten damp (it's a well) because of washing the trunk seal too vigorously. I took off the cover of the trunk floor, and put a fan blowing air for a day - been fine since.

ive been having a similar issue lately, i noticed my amp/cd player in the trunk was missing a few mounting screws, so the whole assembly was held on by one screw instead of the 4 screws it normally uses
i added some new screws, and since now the radio/tape player will cut out every couple of minutes, but only for a half second at a time. its quite annoying

That brings up an interesting point. Did you set it to NOT PRESENT in the COMAND and the Instrument Cluster? Is any telephony hardware still connected in the vehicle?

I had the same issue initially and then no audio at all. About 2 weeks ago the volume would come and go and at times it lasted a few seconds and other times a few minutes. This was intermittent . Then last week the speakers stopped working altogether. The screen turns on and everything comes up on the screen with the exception of the CD changer - it has disappeared. Also, I tried to load/eject cds from the cd changer but its not working!?!?

i think my sound cutting out is irrelavant to the telephone, it worked fine after the phone was disabled. It was when I started resecuring the amp and cd changer that I started having problems, it’s like the amp and CD player benefitted from not being entirely secured?? Sounds like typical wiring problems

Radio issues
I installed the aftermarket unit on my E55 that fits just like factory. I love it! Most importantly, it doesn't cut out any more and the sos does not beep. If any one is interested in these units, I can get them a lot cheaper than Amazon and Ebay. Private message me. I will post pics later

Yes I do and I have this same audio issue I think it may be due to bad battery
