I need 2004 C230 Sport Kompressor Audio help
While playing music (loud or regular) after a while the audio will cut out, shut off, and usually pop as if it's trying to come back on. The time that it cuts out for varies, and I've tried to troubleshoot the problem. I purchased the car used, so I don't have an owner manual to direct me to the AMP location.
Seems very few people have a similar problem - could anybody please assist me?

1. If yes then the issue can be several issues.
a. There is a short in one of your speakers. Take the panels off and make sure that wires are not touching, and the speakers are insulated from the door.
b. There is an electrical issue with the head unit that hasn't developed into complete failure.
2. If no, then you may have a bigger electrical issue
a. (minor) there is an electrical short or unsecured power to the head unit. Check to make sure the ISO plugs are properly seated in the head unit
b. (less minor) Your power issue may be located at the fuse box by either an incomplete fuse blow where a complete but intermittent circuit is present or
c. (major but unlikely) The fuse box is faulty
At any rate you will be well served to purchase a new head unit regardless because the head unit seems to be severely lacking in terms of power output and S/N ratio. Buying a new aftermarket head unit also gives you a reason to take the dash out and check to make sure there are no bare wires and say "Hey since I've got this bad boy open, why not just put a new one in"
I have a 2004 C230 as well and I'll be putting a new android head unit in after I replace the speakers and install an amp.
My answer is based on my over 15 years of car stereo installation.
