No power to new stereo
Hello,
I have a 2002 E430 with Bose sound system and no navigation.
I recently bought a new Pioneer headunit from Crutchfield.com http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130X650...T.html?tp=5684
I made sure it had 4-channel preamp outputs and used the included harness. I connected all the wires according to the colors. However, the headunit won't turn on.
So my questions are; do I need to tap into the cigarette lighter power? Or switch some of the wires? And if so, how do I go about doing that?

wel the 2 thicker wires in the harness (factory) are power and ground, ground being the brown. next you have to figure switched ignition which turns it on which will be the red wire on your aftermarket deck. you should call crutchfield as they supposedly specialize in tech support and audio in general.

I got it thanks! I called crutchfield and they helped me figure out that I needed to tap into the switched ignition (black/yellow) wire on the cigarette lighter and connect that to the red wire to the aftermarket radio.
