What are people hooking into composite in's in rear entertainment system?

What are people hooking into composite in's in rear entertainment system?
I've been searching the site but haven't come across anything definitive - what are people hooking up to their composite in's for the rear entertainment units? Apple TV would be awesome but way too complicated with too many adapters. the new iPhone 5 doesn't have a lightning composite adapter - at least not yet. I'm looking to play video files for the kids - movies, tv shows, etc. Thought one of those Western Digital drives with built in wifi would work, but also fairly complicated. What are you plugging in to watch movies?
