flashing/pulsing switch backlights

I was hoping somebody out there might be able to throw some light (no pun intended) on a problem with my W209 Clk. I've had the whole dash out replacing stepper motors/linkages. Everythings now back together and working. I've got to get the SRS light reset sometime - my understanding is that its latched on (probably because I switched the ignition on with centre console disconnected).

Anyway, all of the disturbed systems have been tested and are working fine. However, when I went out in the car this evening (in the dark) I noticed that all of the upper centre control panel switch backlights (heated seats, hazzard triangle, door lock opener, rear headrest, towing alarm, ESP) are flashing/pulsing at around one flash per second. If I had a bad connection/ground then I would expect the flashing to be more intermittent. Anyone got any idea whats going on here?

Many thanks.

Fixed

Fixed it.

Looks like I messed up when putting the dash back together. Pulled out the centre panel again and disconnected the two wire (Brown & Black/Yellow) plug from the cente of the switchbank. Hey presto, everything back to normal.

I can't remember how many plugs I disconnected from this panel when dismantling the dash. It seems that on my car there are only two (dispite six sockets). I now recall looking for the plugs that needed to be connected to this panel. the one I mistakenly connected had to be re-routed to make it reach as it was very tight - seems obvious now!!

My only slight concern now that I've disconnected it is what should it have been connected to? Everything seems to be working now as it should. I know there will be some redundant wiring in the car, hope this is part of it.

Top tip - always label plugs before you disconnect. I for one should know better!!!
