TV On COMAND finally a US reality !
Good News from NAV-TV on COMAND !
Hello Everybody!
I'm new to this board. I have been on the BMW boards for a while to help and answer technical questions about the NAV-TV kit for BMW's.
now I have some great news. as of last week, I have figured out how to modify and add an external Video input to COMAND 2.5/A systems. I have done already 4 cars with great results.
I have fixed all the problems with the Sync signal, and the pictures really looks sharp and steady when a Good source like a DVD player is fed to it.
When using an after-market TV Tuner, the results are not that great. when a station does not come in 100% clear, the static is emphesized and results in loss of sync to the COMAND screen. I am stiil working on a solution that will use a digital RGB buffer and to completely generate an individual sync signal, not stripped from the video input.
Now as you understand, the radio must be taken apart. an externel RGB converter must by hard-wired to the head unit thru a switching circuit. an external switch can be fitted in the little compartment in front of the shifter to switch the converter and turn the RF modulator on.
It takes me now about 3 hours to modify one unit. that's after six months of work and research....
I'll Try to post a few pictures during this week. I now a lot about W220 electronics, so feel free to ask me any technical questions you want.... just don't push it !!!
You can call 866-477-3336 during working hours (9-6 EST) for pricing. This is NOT a spam - you can ask anyone at the BMW board (www.bimmer.org or www.bmwm5.com) how helpful I can get with tips and tricks....
