Media Interface plus with 2009 GL450 issue
I bought a Media Interface Plus and plugged it in and it works great, EXCEPT 2 things:
The first is the big issue: When I pair up the phone. Play music via Bluetooth streaming and that's fine. Then I make or receive a phone call and the call audio cuts in and out on my end. The other party says its fine. Its random, usually about 5 seconds or so its drops audio to me then comes back then drops a few seconds then comes back. The dealer has tried twice to see whats going on and said there are no updates to my 2009 comand software (even though this MIP came out 2 years after my car was made). They told me I need to pair the phone (Iphone 5 with 6.1.3 software) with the media interface first and then the car factory bluetooth. but I tried both ways several times and it didn't make any difference.
Second issue is that Pandora never works with the interface (I can play it via Bluetooth audio streaming and change songs [so it basically works]) but if I try to use the Pandora functions of the media interface to pick a station it simply says no phone connected or something about cant load playlists. The MIP simply never sees my iphone 5 as a Pandora player even when the phone is paired and the Pandora is running on the phone.
Again since I can use it its not that big a deal, but it should work, no? Does the MIP only control Pandora when plugged in?
In fact when I plug in my iphone 5 via a apple lightning to 30-pin adapter. Its locks up the phone and even rebooted it once. Anyone using a iphone 5 with MIP and have better success?
any help appreciated, and sorry for the long-*** first post

I wonder if there is a firmware update for the MIP available? I have what I can determine is the latest MIP version but am not sure if it truly is. Since I live in Canada and the MIP is not available here, I will not get support from any dealer. I have a 12 so not so convinced its the comand unit necessarily.
For the most part it works well for Bluetooth streaming, rdio, songza etc (no pandora in Canada ).
Does this happen to anyone else's iPhone ? Does it happen on other devices (trying to narrow to iPhone ). That said, when I unplug the MIP it works fine.
I am thinking I will open up the MIP and find the power wire and wire that through a switch so I can just switch off the MIP power when a call is made or recieved. At least the MIP works great besides the phone call issue.
By the way, my iPhone is on iOS 6.1.3. What version do you and your wife have on yours?
I did find on some site (can't find it now) that the MIP had at least one firmware update but it was still buggy (experimental). I have experienced bugs where if I switch apps or go to radio and then back it won't work. I have to go into the menu | playlists | current track to get it to go again and odd behavior like that.
So I am hopefully that they are working on an update for it. I can only find very limited info on line. That said all the new models have streaming built into the comand so I don't think they are putting resources against it.
