Help with bluetooth puck with cradle eliminator on 04 e500 please!
Hey guys,
Have an 04 e500. Have the command head unit. Ordered the v60 puck with cradle eliminator. Part number B67875855. Which is the correct part for this application.
Took the center console tray apart and plugged the puck in to its socket. The puck powered up, and I was able to pair it to my iphone 4. "Mb Phonesystem" is the displayed bt unit.
So far so good....
Now, I press the tel button on the head unit and it says phone not installed. I can make a call from the iphone, and it acts as if it's calling through the car, but no sound from the car.
Also the bluetooth puck stays on all the time. It does not turn on/off with the car / ignition. I ended up unplugging it for now.
Thanks in advance,
George
Do I need to get the car coded to enable the phone on?

Based on the How-To sticky it appears you need to have the car version coding, since your car didn't come with the phone.
"Simply stated, Version Coding is programming the fiber optics controller in your car to tell it that certain electronics are present on the fiber optics bus, and allowing the controller to fully implement all of the features of the electronics. It is done by a dealer or independent technician using the "STAR" diagnostics computer (a laptop with Mercedes Benz proprietary software). If your car had an original equipment hands free phone system installed, and you are upgrading it, you need not have additional version coding done. The new equipment will work fine. If you are installing a phone system (or other equipment that operates on the fiber optics bus) for the first time, the car must be version coded to assure full operation of the new components."
I have the 2001 CLK55 AMG with the Audio 30 unit and I'm trying to figure out my options as well.
