Curious About New Nav Disc
The latest DVD nav disc for my 2008 E350 (USA) is V13.0, and for my 2006 SL500 it's V12.0. Presumably, these two version discs are not interchangeable for my cars. However, the V10 nav disc and all earlier versions were fully compatible/interchangeable for both cars. Any ideas as to why the nav discs from V11.0 onward are no longer interchangeable for my cars? I asked NavTeq about this, and their answer was basically..."it is what it is."
Also, is there a way online to examine the new details and features on the newest nav discs to ensure they're worthwhile before making the expensive purchase?

I think the OP was simply looking for info on what are the features of the firmware upgrades that are being offered not swapping out his OE nav system for aftermarket.

For what it's worth, I have the V.13 navigation disc in my 2006 E350 and it works quite well. I was running a 2005 DVD prior to that so I really appreciated the update. You could always get the V.13 and try it out in the SL - if it doesn't work then you could go for the V.12.
