Need HELP - Disconnecting a MOST union / connector in a MY2005 C230 to install Phone
Hi,
Here are some images. I am trying to remove the rectangular MOST union / connector within the transmission area of my MY2005 C230 to install Phone. The instructions show ample fiber optic cable and room to work. I DO NOT want to pull hard on the cables, so I have a few inches to work with mainly on my back...
HOW do I disconnect this? It seems so easy, as I see a slot for a small flat blade. I also see small square locators. It spins freely around the fiber optic ends. Do I need a special tool? Do I need a special tool for all MOST unions / connectors? I have been able to use a small flat blade thus far.
ANY help would be great! I pulled part 000 545 33 84 as for what this is.
I am including an image of MY CAR and the "Instruction image" with its long and free fiber optic cables...

pry up the top section of it (it is a c shape) and remove it. gently release the retaining clip around the optical connectors end.

Cleveland! (I went to CIA)
Thank you.
Do I utilize the small molded in slot, where my flat blade fits - or am I to work on the outer perimeter seeking a tab and snap?
To simplify:
The shape you say is a "C"...If it where say an "[", would I pry on the left most side of these "shapes"?
(Do I need to shield ALL fiber ends and component ends of the fiber optic system from any and all light? I DO NOT see any warning about light / false triggering in the instructions...)
Thank you.

just pry from the center. think of it as a cover, it will raise up a little bit then you will just need to tug a bit more to separate.
stick the small screw driver at the bottom, there should be a small place towards the middle of the connectors bottom for it.
usually i just wedge something in one of the seems, blindly... as I have done many and it is just a cover, don't let it scare ya.
on a side note be careful with the optical cables themselves

GOT IT!
Spent more time writing this thread and taking pictures...just wanted to be sure that a tool was not need to press down in the squares while releasing the tab.
So...Locate the bottom seam, opposite the TOP with slot (the slot is just a molding shut off to form the tab) release the tab. The squares are locators for internal peg ribs (i.e. friction) and they will walk off. I worked each side a bit at a time and then released it.
Once the TOP is off, you will (as seen on other MOST connections) release the small inner tab - then pull out the fiber.
THANKS!
