2011 MB C300
DVD unreadable

Good Evening,
My first post ever, wish me luck. Last year sold a CLK 550 2008 rag top nice but needed more room. So now we have a 2011 C300 V6 it is very nice but the same as the CLK the navigation is not (let me be nice) as it should be, in any case I purchased an original MB 2013 DVD and when I put it in the CD player it displays "disc unreadable". I am certain this auto would be capable of reading both CD and DVD or am I expecting too much in this decade?
Any suggestions?

without the premium comand, you are expecting too much, (just kidding) but on a good note, they sell portable units that hook up to the ipod connection or aux input that will save you time when burning a DVD and our pretty inexpensive now a days. i seen a used ipod 32G on craigslist for $25

Wink

Thanks JB
I have an IPod with a 40 GB hard drive, never dreamed this CD player wouldn't read a DVD. I will look into how or if the Aux will pick up the Navigation if I install it on the IPod.

harlemjo, does your car have a nav DVD reader in the trunk, probably on the left side as you face forward? If you select Nav, does it say "disc not available" or something like that? Sorry I am not familiar enough with your car...

Inserting a nav DVD into a reader meant for CD only will give you exactly the readout you got.

Also, assuming your car has a nav system, it is possible that it is missing some interim updates. Whenever you insert a new disc, it looks for portions of the nav system code to update; if the existing code is not what the new disc is looking for, the update will not proceed and the disc will be "unreadable." A dealer can provide the missing interim updates - and if you bought your nav CD from him, he will probably do it for no charge.

Thanks! Sorry, my "solution" will not work.
