Export Addresses From GPS

Hello.

I have a 2007 S550 and am looking into buying a new one. Does anyone know how to export the saved addresses from the GPS from the old car to the new car? Mercedes says it can't be done, but I find it hard to believe that there's not a way to retrieve the addresses from the GPS computer and then import them into the new one. Any ideas???

I think Mercedes is right. I can't think of any way to access the GPS as it's only a playback unit. It's not as if the GPS were hard drive oriented. To my knowledge it is purely a read only function. Hope this makes some sense.

It has to save the addresses somewhere. I just find it hard to believe there's not a way to export them. There are literally hundred's of addresses saved in the navigation. Some of which I don't even have an address for -- I just tapped "save this location." It would take me days to write it all down and then put it into a new car.

Just purely intuition here but I think that this a bit of both. Clearly the unit has some flash memory of some kind to be able to store address data. The question is how to access it given that the unit wasn't designed for it. I also assume that there is some way to do software upgrades on the unit and in that way there is a port in the back you could attach the right cabe to. If this were a life and death level information you could then pull the unit out and have an independent tech work out a hack to access and copy that data. The question is whether or not its worth all of that to get the addresses or is it simpler, less costly and time consuming to scroll through and grab the critical addresses from this car and input them into the next one. Good luck.
