2000 E320 AUX/iPOD options?

So I have read up on this topic on these forums for some time now and have had trouble finding a specific solution to installing an AUX cable in order to play music via my iPOD or iPHONE in my 2000 E320.

I have read about the tape deck hack though am a bit uncomfortable taking the dash apart and soldering on the circuit board. (though this seems like the most cost-effective solution if I had the know-how). Perhaps someone has a link to a more detailed description with pictures or videos?)

I have also seen and heard of adapters that you can substitute in the disc changer port in the back of the radio in order to convert to aux input, though I cannot find a product designed specifically for my model radio.

There is no way you can run an aux cable from the trunk where the audio comes into the disc changer?

I am new to these forums (first post).. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...

PAC has a few adapters available. Check out their page, and you might find something that fits what you are looking for. I hope this helps:

Thanks for the response,

It looks as though the only compatible adapter that doesn't run off FM frequency is the DENSION Gateway 500 which is $250 or so..

I would attempt the tape hack if the directions were more clear..

Any other ideas?

replace the radio with something more modern, that thing is an antique and there are units out there from Alpine or Kenwood that would look great in that vehicle. It should be a single din radio that takes about 5 seconds to take out. some have the fader controls in the center console area by the shifter so run wires to it. you can only throw so many bandaids at something. consider it this way, how many sets of tires did you go through since 2000? it's time for an upgrade 14 years later...

Yea thanks for the response but you did not answer my question... At all. I haven't thrown any band aids on it, it's the original stock radio which I understand is old. I don't need a new radio I just need a way to play music from my iPod and if I were interested dropping a few hundred bucks to simply buy a new radio I would not have posted a thread.

Anyone with helpful please let me know. THANKS
