Question aftermarket NAV systems

Was reviewing alternatives for a NAV system for my W124 coupe.

I currently have the Magellan PathMaster system installed, which worked fine when I used to live in the SE US. I haven't spent the $$ to get new maps for my current area.

#############

Are there any suggested / recommended models that folks would care to share?

I was considering the new Magellan RoadMate system (about $1200). See http://www.magellangps.com/en/products/roadmate.asp

I used to use a Mellegan 750M which is a portable system as Hertz's Neverlost. It covers the whole US and some Canada. Now I have an Alpine DVD unit installed into my cars and the 750M goes into my wife's car.

The 750M is great if you know the area you are going. It doesn't has the detail maps like the Alpine DVD, especially the latest version. In town, the 750M shows nothing on the display, only a few major streets. Both use voice to tell you when to turn, keep left or right, arrival time (esitmated) and places of interests. And the biggest difference is the screen. The 750M has a small screen and the Alpine has a 7".

I use the Garmin 2610 in my CLK-320 and it works great. Not too intrusive, excluding the horribly placed lighter/outlet.
