Any problem with adding amp to Rear Shelf?

I'm installing a JL Audio 10" sub in a sealed box in the trunk of my E320 and I've been trying to figure where to put the amp. I think putting it in the rear shelf might be my best bet. I only have foam in there now, no speakers. I figure putting it there with exposure to the cabin air would keep it cooler than installing it behind the trunk side panels. Are there any problems with that placement?

I had cut out the foam in the middle of the rear shelf for when I had a Bazooka Vented sub tube. But with a sealed box the hole in the foam should not matter. Might even be a good place to install the amp so it has ventilation above and underneath. Although I am only using a JL Audio XD600/1v2 so i don't expect it to get that hot pumping out 500w.

Thoughts?

Well in light of the avalanche of replies, I re-read pinebaron's sticky thread and a few others. Then fiddled around in the trunk and decided to mount the amp where pinebaron did his, except using what I think are the air suspension mounting holes. My amp is smaller that his and I think this should be a secure location.

Mounting holes for plywood onto which amp will be mounted.

Just FYI, if someone searches for this in the future.
