2008 E320 Bluetec - Command Software updates?

2008 E320 Bluetec
2008 E320 Bluetec - Command Software updates?
I just bought a 2008 E320 Bluetec. It has the Command System with Navigation and iPod integration in the glove box. It also has a bluetooth connection in the console, but that works for the phone and not for streaming music.

I have looked online and see posts about software updates for the Command System. Do those update the entire system or just the navigation maps? I'm not sure if the software was ever updated on my car. Does a dealer have to update the software?
