How I manager to play my ipod video's on my online command 4.7
As I found a lot of good info on here already, I wanted to post some feedback so I've made an account.
I'm not sure if my info is relevant to all of you as I'm from Europe but:
I've been struggling like mad to get video's playing on my command (other than DVD).
Finally I've managed to play video's from my Ipod Nano 4th gen.
Here's how:
My setup:
Comand Online 4.7
Media Interface
Apple cable to the interface in my center console
Ipod connected
Make sure there's at least 1 song on the phone, otherwise it doesn't detect the video (not sure why)
Make sure the video is in the right format. I've converted mine using a free tool called handbrake.
Handbrake settings:
- Container: MP4 (not optimized for anything)
- In picture tab:
Keep aspect ratio
Set width to 800
Cropping: automatic
Anamorphic: none
Modulus: 2
-Video Tab:
Codec: H.264 (x264)
FPS: 30
Select: constant framerate
X264 preset: medium
x264 tune: film
H.264 profile: Baseline
H.264 level: 3.0
Constant Quality: currently at 26 but you can change to increase/decrease quality and file size
I didn't touch any other settings.
When I now connect the Ipod, it will start playing that one song.
If I then depress the turn know on my center console, I can scroll all the way down to video and play the video's.
I hope this helps someone with the same problem I had.
I'm trying to figure out how to connect my iPod classic to Comand4.7 via usb port in the middle glove box in my car.
I'm using the media interface in the glove box, with the MB media interface to ipod cable.
The standard USB port doesn't work
On the MB website, there's a list somewhere with supported devices.
I've got an ipod nano (4th gen I believe)
