Hi there,
I own a 2006 C230 and I'm looking to install a aftermarket dvd/stereo unit that I can use with my iPod. I have been looking online and have found some on eBay. They are basically the exact same units except for one has been designed with the '06 c230 specs so that it fits right into the space where the factory radio in my car is now, without having to add a bracket or brace. The other thing it has that the other device does not have is a Benz CanBus Decoder Box & Special Port for Car CanBus Connector. As I said, it's pretty much the same as the one above except it doesn't have the CanBus stuff and I would need to get a brace/bracket to have it fit properly (I've seen them for 15$ online) and it would save me money if I could get the unit without a CanBus Decoder Box.

Here are my questions

Do I need a CanBus Decoder Box to use a dvd/stereo such as the one above with my C230?

If I don't have a CanBus Decoder Box will I lose certain functionalities?

Can I control my stereo unit with my steering wheel buttons without CanBus Decoder Box?

Can my iPod be integrated without a CanBus Decoder Box?
