Dissapointed in navigation system
I had the mercedes navigation system installed on my 2003 ml 350. The latest dvd disk that came with it is from 2002. The disk covers the entire U.S. but the lack of detailed street information is pretty sad. Streets that have been around for 10 years are not shown.
My thought was to use the nav as a tool for my business being a real estate appraiser. It is not detailed enough to be of much value. I am told a 2004 updated disk will be out this spring.
Are there any options (outside sources that are compatible) available?

I'm new at this, so bear with me! I just purchased a 2004 ML 350 Inspiration model with the navigation system. The OEM DVD is also a 2002 version. Both MB Customer Service and NavTech (DVD mapping provider) confirm that a July 2007 DVD is available for around $200. However, I have not received any response from NavTech after requesting confirmation of the mapping updates (if any) since the 2002 version, for my areas of interest - east coastal US.
I will keep you posted.

Take about $300 down to your local mercedes benz dealer and buy a set of the latest release (01/2007). Or if you don't want a full set, u can search Ebay or classified ads on various MB forums.
I just bought a full set for $275 plus tax and I'm selling the 8 of 10 discs I don't need for $35 shipped each. $35 x 8 = $280. So I'm only out a couple bucks but I have the 2 discs I want and they are the latest release.

I second the advice provided by 1fstamg; in addition, some contributors have noted that Navteq sends requests to various cities to update maps - while their maps are created from satellite surveillance, the street names and so forth are provided by local entities. If the local folks in your town and surrounding areas are not providing them the feedback, the names of streets may either not show, or may be wrong.
Richer's comment concerning DVDs is accurate, but your '03 uses CDs, not DVDs. Don't buy a DVD for it. Be sure that what you get is for your system; check the label on the box.
