Vintage Hirschmann antenna repair from 50's

Greetings, i am trying to repair an electric Hirschmann 6000 D29 antenna from the 50's, it appears that the mast cable has come unattached from the silver mechanism wheel.

I cannot seem to get the silver wheel and gear out, I have removed the worm gear axle from the motor and removed the screw from the gear (in the pic below) and the bronze gear spins freely and the entire unit pulls out about 1/2 inch then catches on something, preventing it's removal but I can't see why.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to remove this wheel? Thanks in advance.
