I have searched to find a topic that'd help, without any definitive answer. I need to know how I can tell if my W203 Estate has the fiber-optic connection with amp.

I don't have the car yet, and I suspect it doesn't have it, but I'd like a definitive way of checking (short of pulling the head unit out). It's a 2006 or 2007 right-hand drive C180K Estate with Audio 20 sound system. I wouldn't know where to check for the amp on an estate.

I want to install an Android head unit (http://www.stopshop.co.za/navigation...o-dsp-obd.html), and one of the options is "fibre optic amplifier". I need to know whether to take that option or not.

Turns out to be a 2005; I don't know if that makes any difference. I can't find any sort of amp behind the panels in the back.

changer in the glovebox? undo t20 torx, and slide out. turn fm radio on and diconnect the orange cable plug. if audio stays on your will be fine, audio goes out, well you have your answer. If it does go off, amp could be on passenger firewall/floor.

No CD changer at all, not even an aux connector.

do you have the factory subwoofer, if not, most likely not optical.
