I am posting this to help anyone searching this forum in the future. I had a problem with the stereo cutting out intermittently, got it mis-diagnosed by Mercedes of Seattle as the head unit. turned out to be the teleaid module, which is located underneath the trunk liner, in a plastic housing behind the back seat, bolted to the floor.
