I have a UK spec 2004 W211 E320 CDI. Nokia 6310i integrated telephone on Orange network.

I have notice that the telephone signal strength is really poor. I've been trying to analyse what's happening and have come up with a couple of off the cuff theories. any comment/previous experience of either of these very welcome. What I do know for sure though is that you get a better signal stength by holding the phone in your hand than you do when it is connected to the car kit.

1. When the signal is transferring from one mast to another the phone may drop out rather than transition smoothly.

2. Instead of the antena picking up the signal from all directions, it seem to favour a signal coming from in front of the vehicle.

 

I have a signal reach amplifier and that works great for me. Richard (another member) is using it as well. www.signalreach.com I have tried the Mercedes antenna compensator but it's not really that great.

 

I had the same problem. I installed (thank you to Sunman help and suggestions) a Hirschman antenna on the underside of the rear bumper (plastic) and used the Signal reach amplifier. The reception is now outstanding. It stays at five bars in areas were before I had no signal or one bar, and once it connects it stays connected through the call even in underground (two levels down) parking garage.
