Audio 10 is the solution to CD changers

For those of you that have a CD changer in the trunk and have a radio/tape player in the front it can be a pain. If you're driving and none of the 6 CD's in the trunk are what you want to hear, you have to stop the car get out & open the trunk to change a CD.
Instead of changing my entire audio system, a simple user installable solution was to change the head unit.

SOLUTION- I replaced the radio/tape in the front and put in the MB Audio 10 which is a radio/cd that also operates the 6 CD changer in the back, giving me 7 CD's to use. I can toggle back and forth between the radio, front cd player or the 6 cd changer...without ever having to get out of the car.

It took me about 10 minutes to install and it was truely plug and play.

Just my 2 cents. I got mine from an MB world member, thanks.

I have installed Audio 10 CD on my 98 SLK and I´m willing to install a CD changer in order to listen to CD'R or CD'RW which I can´t now with Audio 10 Cd. The question is what brand and models of CD changers will work with that radio?
Thanks all.

I'm using the stock changer that came with my Mercedes. I don't know the compatibility chart for the head unit. You may want to post a question to the forum.

I was this morning in the MB dealer and they didn´t know if Audio 10 CD can support a CD changer. I suppose it can since you have it working. Can you tell me if it´s a Becker or a Blaukpunkt changer, since Audio 10 CD is made by one of them. Also, does your changer work with CD´R and CR'RW?
Thanks for your help.

I'll have to check the changer model I have this weekend. As for CD-R & CD-RW. I currently use CD-r's with no problem. I don't have CD-RW media so I'm not sure of that one.

CDRWs in general are a No-No for the older/current MB Players. The only exceptions I know of are the S/CL New Head Units and the W211 E Class Units.
If anyone can post to the contrary please correct me.

Cheers!

The term "Audio 10" is a Mercedes name they use on several different models of radio cd & cassette. Most are made by either Becker or Alpine. Usually, if its a cassette, its a Becker, if its a cd, an Alpine.

The Audio 10 CD's I know of are fiber optic so any changer will need to also be fiber optic.

You're having trouble playing cd-r's in an Audio 10? You might try a different media or burner because they are fine with my Audio 10. I don't have cd-rw, though. It would be nice if someone who has experience using cd-rw in an Audio 10 would give a report.

What media and burner are you using, or any special way of making CD'Rs? Also any brand of CD'R is best to get it working on Audio 10? Also what year is your radio?
Thanks for your help!
