Another satellite question
I am thinking of going with XM. And getting "The Turk". The guy at SOund Advice told me they had another way of tapping into the radio OTHER than an RF adapter. Said it sounded twice as good. But this special adapter added another 89 bucks to the total cost.
Anyone know what this adapter is and is it really worth it? I am not too worried about sound quality as much as just having some better stations! The radio sucks around here! But he said the adapter would make a HUGE difference.
Sorry I can't remember what he called the adapter. But it was different from an RF..I know what that is.
Am I being shafted? Although he did say they have a new Antenna that is really small now. Only like 1" X 1". And said he wanted to put it on the dash. Under the windshield.

I thought Terk made just antennas. Anyway, the latest ones are small, and people have reported good results with them either on the back shelf under the rear window (what I have) or on the dashboard.
I don't know what additional device your installer is referring to. In my car, the RF sounds very good. If it is possible to tap directly into your car's audio system without going through the radio, that could well sound better, however.

Here is the turk unit. And it will fit in the ash tray. So that's a huge plus for me.

I have my receiver (an Alpine unit) in the ashtray, too. If you close the ashtray, you can't see it.
I noticed that the XM Commander unit has a direct line-out. If you hook that into your stereo system, that should produce the best sound from XM. I gather that the $89 part is somehow related to accessing the MB stereo system.
