Lightbulb Factory installed car kits

I bought my C200K Coupe EVO in 2001, it came with a factory fitted phone kit for Nokia 6310i which works thru my steering wheel.

I hate this phone, if satan ever designed a phone, then this is it.

I really want to use my 8910i which is bluetooth and am desperately trying to find a buetooth kit that will replace the current factory install and allow functionality thru my steering wheel.

Does any one have any ideas?

thanks,

Sean

CAR KIT

Your car kit won't work with 6310i if you have a 2001 car. The car kit can only work with 6210, 6110 or 5110. You have to go to a Mercedes dealer to do a upgrage if you want to use 6310i. It is no way to change any phone if you want to keep this car kit. You may just install a blue tooth car kit which cost you $280 plus install. One more option is buy portable bluetooth car kit. It comes with built in mic and speaker, so you will save a bit for install.

Thanks

Kevin, thanks.

The 6310i works in my current benz installed car kit. the problem is I wish to use my nokia 8910i (bluetooth phone) and was hoping there was a bluetooth car kit that worked in conjunction with the command system in the benz.

car kit

It is a good wish. But sorry. I have already asked Nokia, they said the car kit is made by Mercedes and they know nothing about it. So I went to Mercedes dealer, and they answer me the same. Use this car kit......
Or go for BMW, they use bluetooth car kit, my friend is using it, very nice, better than Nokia factory car kit.

Again, thank you

Funny, I went to Benz and they told me Nokia developed it for Benz. I also found out that the newer cars, ie CLK, SL, SLK being released in the last 3 months have the new bluetooth car kit in them, but again something in the software prohibits all bluetooth phones from working.

I don't understand this rationale. Certainly it sounds like Nokia has a hand in this, as Nokia do not develop off bluetooth standards and most of their bluetooth products will only operate with Nokia branded devices as opposed to all other bluetooth devices.

Well all I can do is continue my search.

Do what i'm doing... get rid of the 8910i, well, in my case 8910, and get a Siemens S55... will be getting a cradle for it soon.

Cost for the Siemens S55 cradle is around AUD$380, phone is around AUD$285 new off ebay.

Although the Siemens S55 may not be an high end range, the functions on that beats the 8910 any day, then again, any new mobiles out now is

Cheers,
Ho
