Replaced broken Command unit and have no code.

I recently replaced my Command unit on a 2007 ML500. I don't have the code, and the VIN is irrelevant since the radio is replaced.
How can I get the radio code? Using Serial number?
I tried the serial # on the Alpine website and it was not useful.
Thanks.

Unit is installed and no code was required. Problem now is the Nav function only shows a Compass? Is it a programming problem or hardware issue?

I just recently got my battery replaced and the mechanic told me it's possible that my Command may ask for a code to get the radio working again. He said I would find the code as a sticker in the manual. If not that I should call the dealership. Fortunately, i didn't have to do any of that. Maybe those tips will help you out.

when I need the radio code - I go to dealer and present my registration to show I own the car. If replacing the COMAND unit, not a problem, it has serial number too and when they see it installed in my car - they know its mine and give me a code or program the car to accept that new COMAND and get a code for me.
