2008 W219 CLS63 AMG (NA w/NAV) - which COMAND generation? b/u cam retrofit
Hello All - researched *numerous* posts both here & on other forums: how can I determine which COMAND version is installed? some posts suggest there was a W211/W219 NTG generation upgrade sometime in the months between 2007-2008 but appears to be model and perhaps market dependent, other posts don't even mention an NTG2 generation. my COMAND doesn't have the SD-card slot at the top of the bezel, so I'm fairly certain it's pre-NTG 2.5. were the same COMAND generations installed in different models & years but with different faceplates? so confusing!
I'd like to install a backup camera and I understand there are gen differences that must be considered. confident it's either an NTG1 (best guess) or maybe NTG2. I've found several posts which provide info on recommended components and install, but if anyone has successfully done such an addition in this gen, what parts would you recommend, and what advice might you offer for installation? Also, it seems there could be a (hidden) Engineering menu which requires a secret decoder ring & finger gymnastics to access, yet may shed light on generation, firmware version, etc.
