wireless apple play

I have a 2018 e400 cab. and a iphone x. the wireless charging works very well, but I still have to attach the USB cord to get Apple Play in the car. The dealer told me that the current software does not support wireless appleplay. Does anybody know something more about this? When I bought the car, the dealer said it was supported.

Sorry I don't have any answers for you regarding wireless apple play, I would also love to find a wireless solution for android auto. It seems odd that the e400 cab offers the convenience of wireless charging, but no wireless solution for the phone integration. I did, however find a wired solution that is slightly less annoying than plugging and unplugging the phone. I found a magnetic usb c connecting system. It leaves a very small plug in the phone with the magnetic connection exposed. When I get in the car, i just move the magnetic cable close to the receiver in the phone and it connects. You can find an example on Amazon here.

RandybytheBay......thanks for the tip. I am still holding out hope that MB will find a software solution to make wireless available on the 2018s. Is that wishful thinking?

Did you mean Apple Pay or Apple CarPlay? How did you get wireless charging to work? My iPhone defaults to Apple Pay when I place it on the NFC pad. I am really disappointed in wired Apple CarPlay and MB interface. It seems to distracting to drive and try to use the iPhone icons.

I was talking about AppleCarPlay.....and, yes, I have to defeat ApplePay if I want to charge my phone wirelessly. The NFC pad takes over and goes to ApplePay. Mercedes needs to find a fix for this, and find a way to connect to CarPlay without the USB cord. Seems like they haven't caught up to some other car companies with this technology

With ApplePay defeated, laying the phone down on the pad starts the charging

In researching iPhone and Apple Pay, the Apple solutions center told me that only Apple Pay is permitted to use the NFC function by Apple, not MB issue.

i guess i don't understand.....is that what is keeping my iphone x from using wireless apple car play? i can use applecarplay using a usb cable, and i can charge my phone using the wireless pad. seems like it should be a simple connectivity issue.

Sounds similar to my iPhone options. But, my phone is not charging in the pad under the NFC logo. I did read that Qi charging works in the arm rest, but that has not happened either
