Fiber Optic CD Changer Install
Is it possible to put a MB fiber optic cd changer installed to an aftermarket Alpine deck? or would i need a newer fiber optic head unit also?

the newer cd-changers are made by becker. not compatible with any alpine aftermarket decks.
My 2003 E55 has an Alpine changer in it.
Regardless, as Lynn stated... any fibre optic MB changer (Alpine, Becker, Panasonic, no matter) is not going to work with an aftermarket Alpine deck.

I'd be inclined to think that it is possible to do this. I'd say it would work if the MB CD changer was made by Alpine (some are made by Alpine, some by Becker, some by Panasonic, and some were by Sony). Check if it's made by Alpine, and perhaps ask around before trying.
Which incidentally, uses cartridges made of unobtainium.

And how about a MB Audio 10 CD made by Alpine, will an aftermarket Alpine cd changer work with it? I'm not sure if my 98 SLK has fibre optic conections or not. How can I check it? If so, the cd changer has to be fibre optic as well? Has Alpine fibre optic aftermarket CD changers?
Thanks to all!
Your 1998-manufactured SLK probably does not have fibre optic wiring, because most non-US cars not delivered with CD changers do not have fibre optic wiring; plus your car may be a bit too early.
Alpine does not use D2B fibre optics in their aftermarket products.
