Broken Command scrolling wheel circuit board sensor - what are they?
Hi everyone,
Was trying to fix my scrolling wheel issue (on a W204) that everyone is being plagued by and was unfortunately a little rough on the u-shaped plastic sensors in which two of the clips broke. Our fault completely. Because of these 2 sensors breaking, now the up on the joystick does not work, making the scroll wheel very useless. Below is an image of the sensors, they look like plastic clips )and have no wires running through them) but as soon as they split down the middle, the knob stopped working.
Does anybody know what these sensors are called (and where to get them from) as from what I can see, it is an easy replacement to solder new ones on, I just need to know what they are.

So I figured it out. The parts for anyone in the same situation to replace are:
Sharp GP1S092HCPIF Surface Mount Slotted Optical Switch, Phototransistor Output
Part Details
Manufacturer Sharp
Mfr. Part No. GP1S092HCPIF
Specifications
Output Device Phototransistor
Number of Channels 1
Typical Rise Time 50µs
Typical Fall Time 50µs
Mounting Type Surface Mount
Package Type SMD
They cost me AU$0.60 each and were easy to resolder, just take off the old ones and be very careful placing the new ones in the same way (angled side facing out of the joystick).
All in all, I fixed the issue for AU$1.20 so pretty chuffed, as a new one would have not been cheap.

love those kinda fixes thanks for doing all the hardwork of figuring out what component to buy.
I used to fix the clocks in the W123's.... couple bucks and soldering iron...
