Service Format CD for Head Unit
I downloaded an ISO from a Daimler Benz site; the file being called COMAND APS BR 169,203,209,245,463 ORDER No. W203 580 06 22 00 12/2009. Inside the ISO is a file called ‘SAMCO_R99_1_3_002005.DBI followed a recommendation included in the service update (W203 589 06 22 00) to burn the iso to a cd using Nero to burn the iso image as a finalised cd. One single file is burnt. A detailed description of the update procedure is included in the CD inlay. This states a navigation DVD must be inserted immediately before hand, then ejected, the service CD inserted and the system updates with an OK key (I assume to be the key surrounded by the movement arrows) then pressed after ejecting the service CD.Unfortunately, the service CD as burnt will not load and it is suspected that the CD has the incorrect format.
I have 2 questions-
1 --- Is W203 589 06 22 00 the correct service update to fix this fader issue?. Some threads on this site refer to Mercedes COMAND HEAD UNIT Service CD W211 589 14 22 00 with an install procedure as
CAR "ON" ENGINE RUNNING.. (do not touch key until competed)
TURNED HEAD UNIT ON--> (I was in FM radio mode and just turned the volume all the way down)
HOLD DOWN 1,3,8 @ the same time AND
ON THE SCREEN ITS SHOULD SAY - INSERT DISC
I INSERTED DISC AND IT STARTING TO UPGRADE
IT SHOWS 2 VISUAL PROGRESS BARS AND SAYS
FLASH AND REFLASH AND THEN SAID
RESTARTING UNIT IN 3,2,1 AND RADIO SHUT OFF THEN ON DONE - TOOK ABOUT 6-8 MINW211 has 9 files and is completely different to W203 which has only 1
2 --- If the W203 service CD is correct one to use and not the W211 for a reset, what is the precise procedure for burning a CD?
If anyone has any tips/suggestions, please let me know.I have searched this site for the original thread recommending W203 and it had the Daimler location for downloading the file, however I cannot rediscover it now.
Perhaps someone knows the Daimler site location. If anyone has any tips/suggestions/assistance, please let me know.
The fader issue is only a small issue so perhaps I don’t really need it but it would be nice to get it working.
