2012 GL450 audio upgrade
Hi, I have a regular(non Harmin) audio system on my 2012 GL450. The factory speakers sound overpowered and murky in mid-base. I am thinking of upgrading to Alpine S-S65C and install with Bestbuy car audio. Anyone knows the factory OEM system wattage(total or per speaker)? I heard some come with amplifier as well but not sure its wattage either.
More fancy option: would someone know if I upgrade the amp to a PDX-F6 150Wx4 total of 600w, bypass my existing amp, would that possibly is too much for the existing battery and electrical system? Also, anyone knows what is the power rating of the OEM stereo on this car? Since there is no sub, I am guessing 25wX4 maybe? I believe all 4 doors are component speakers. Also, is the output of the stereo flat or prefiltered?
Any suggestion with this setup would be appreciated. This was suggested at local audio shop.
- JL audio TWK88 (used to filter out any existing equalization coming from the OEM stereo). I was told with sound delay can create a center speaker effect, without adding a center speaker. Not sure if I need this DSP processor.
- Focal Access 6.5 and 5.25 component
- PDX-F6(150Wx4) OR F4(100Wx4)
- sound deadening (are there existing or needed to add this?)
