V60s Bulletin

I have a V60s in my '04 E500. I have had a problem in which the phone intermittantly freezes on start-up. It displays ALARM-LOUD and the COMAND display says Activating.... The only fix is to remove the battery and reinsert the phone into the cradle.

According to the dealer, there is now a bulletin dated in June saying that this is a known issue with no current solution. I am very (naively?) hopeful they cannot fix it and that I score a V710 when they are available. Thoughts?

There is always hope. But the phone is covered by the warranty (another reason MB should get out of the handset business) and if it doesn't work, I would continue to press for a solution even if that means a different phone.

Alarm Loud

I just found this tread and I am having the same problem with my V60 installed in my 2004 CL55. If I insert the phone in the cradle, it takes quite a while for the Comand screen to attempt to activate the phone, and then it finally says "Phone not inserted". When I look at the V60 phone, itself, it is locked (frozen) and none of the keys are functional. The message "Alarm Loud" is displayed on the phone's little screen. If the battery is removed from the phone and then re-inserted, and then the phone is re-inserted into the cradle, everything works fine . . . until you turn off the ignition. Then you will have to go through the above drill all over again.

Any solutions? Any help?

My dealer dealt with this 4 times and the last time they seemed to get it right. From locking up everything 1-3 times on start-up, it is now rare to have a problem. And when I do, just taking the phone out and reinserting it does the trick. Don't know what they did but I would insist on having it done for free as there are some glitches in the software OBVIOUSLY! (I was under warranty so cost ws not my problem).

Thanks for the info. I'll see what the dealer can do.
