Sirius Radio Shutting Down Resetting Every 30 Seconds
When I bought my 2009 R350 with the COMAND System I was excited to see that it had Sirius Radio already installed. I called Sirius and moved my subscription to the factory system, They updated my subscription and sent the signal to the new radio. However, after the upload the COMAND System (while playing Sirius) would shut down and re-boot or reset every 30-40 seconds. After two weeks on the phone with Sirius we have solved the problem. It seems that the earlier radios were only equipped to handle about 150 Sirius channels. With more than 200 channels now, the new signals overload the COMAND unit causing it to reset after about 30 seconds (and it happens every 30 seconds) making it impossible to listen to satellite radio.
The solution is that you need to call Sirius at 855-238-9256 and choose option 3. In my case I spoke to several people over the two weeks, most either never got back to me or kept towing the same old line of "the technicians are working on it". I finally got a corporate specialist by the name of Mike who decided to help me. He placed my subscription in a special tier which only loads about 150 channels of Sirius into the radio and then stops. The result is all the channels I listen to and I no longer have the reset problem.
I know there are other cases of this happening and it is apparently a known problem, but no one connects the dots at Sirius. So, if any of you are having the problem...instead of trying to explain what needs to be done, just give them my case number to look at. My case number was 200226-003834. You can tell them that this you are another Sirius subscriber who is having the same problem and ask them to simply read the resolution in my case to see what was done. They can also look to see the plan that I am on for further reference.
Hope this helps someone else!
