Muffled sound when using AUX input

Hi, as the title says, when I plug my phone to the AUX port of my car it sounds muffled, like it's underwater or something, I have to turn the volume all the way up only to hear some sound with no bass. This doesn´t happen when I'm using the radio or the cd player, and it was working fine before.

I tried with different phones and cables but still the same. I went to the dealership and they said that the voltage of the AUX input was too low (I think it was around 0.6V).

Can anyone help me? Thanks.

My head unit is an MF2840 Audio 20 NTG2.5. ML300 W164.

Welcome to the ****-poor MB implementation of the AUX input!

MB completely destroyed the audio performance of the AUX input in order to protect their audio warranty ***. They limit the gain, compress the signal, and limit the bass in order to protect the speakers from damage. Depending on the version of the audio system you have, MB makes an interface amplifier (204 870 39 94) that may help, but not eliminate the audio carnage.

A45 AMG
Hi there, totally new to this, I have recently just bought a 2015 A45, it has came with the ntg 4.5 system in it, my Apple car play is working but with no sound, I try to play Spotify no sound either, I can’t even answer a call through the car, have to disconnect to answer my phone, I tried going through a step by step on the changing the aux but I it still didn’t work and I lost the DAB radio so I had to reverse what I done, surely this shouldn’t be as complicated 🙈 is a external microphone a fix? Any help would be much appreciated, cheers
