w211 220cdi station wagon subwoofer installation
Got my hands on 2007 w211. I do feel that car stereo system needs some more basssss. Has anyone installed aftermarked amps and sub into station wagon? I got 2x Alpine SBE-12 subbox with MRP M350 amps laying around.
So, question is:
1.is it worth to install sub into station wagon? What are cons and pros?
2.How DIY it is to install/connect those in to original system(COMAND)
3.Are those boxes/amps good enaugh?
4.Is it better to install 1 or 2? (since as i sayd i got 2 systems)
So far what i figured out:
A. Powering should not be a problem. Battery is in trunk too, so would install powercable directly from battery, also would install fuse(those amps have 2x20 fuses, how big should be fuse on power cable?)
B. Grounding- as far i understand, people sugest taking ground from chassi, not directly from battery?
C. remote-from fuse box. need to clarify correct fuse slot`?
D. getting speakers signal to amp- havent figured that part out yet. Closest speakers are in rear doors. There should also be original amp in trunk?
Looked help from google and in this forum, found couple threads where people have done it in sedans, also no decent quidelines for wiring.
If anyone got some sugestions/directions to give, would be thankful.
